Traditional wall-hinged shower doors place the weight of the glass onto hinges mounted directly to the wall. Because heavy frameless glass extends outward from those mounting points, that weight can create leverage on the hinges and wall over time, increasing the potential for adjustment issues or door sagging.

A pivot shower door is supported differently. The bottom pivot transfers much of the door's weight directly into the shower curb or threshold rather than relying entirely on hardware mounted to the wall.
